A Beginners Guide to Buying a Designer Watch

8th August - Submitted by Fine Jewelry

So you've got back from the shops with that perfect outfit and all that is left to finish it of is to find the perfect designer watch. For the watch novices, here is a rough guide to the various types you can expect to find.

Whether you are looking for a mens designer watch or a ladies designer watch you must first make the choice of display you prefer.Analogue watches have a face with hour and minute hands whereas digital watches have either an LCD (liquid crystal display) or LED (light emitting diode) display that tells the time in the numeric form.Analogue watches are considered the more formal.

Designer watches are powered by various means.Digital watches are powered by a tiny watch battery and quartz watches and mechanical watches are powered by a precise arrangement of gears and springs, which is why they tend to cost a fair more. You should bear in mind that all mechanical watches tend to lose their time over the course of a year and need to be wound regularly.

The watch case means the watch's frame.  For analogue watches it can be round, square, rectangular or a polygon. The finish may be shiny, patterned or even jewelled so there are plenty of stlyes for you to choose your preferance.

The watch crystal refers to the transparent cover protecting the face of the designer watch.  This can be made of plexiglass, traditional mineral flass or synthetic sapphire which is an extremely hard clear crystal.

The last aspect of your watch purchase to decide upon is the watch band.An analogue timer watch will be made of leather or a metal that will match the case.Digital watches and in particular sport watches usually have plastic watch bands.

The only thing to decide is the specific make and model of the watch that you wish to buy.Unfortunately only you know what budget you can afford and what sort of style will suit your type of clothing best!
