Engagement Rings Don’t Have To Break The Bank

4th July - Submitted by Fine Jewelry

There are a fantastic number of options for finding the perfect selection of engagement rings that are within virtually any budget. Finding affordable engagement rings doesn’t mean having to give up beauty, quality or style, but it does mean knowing how to make the most of what you can afford.

The most expensive component of engagement rings is going to be the diamonds in the setting. Changing settings even a bit will allow you to perhaps select a bigger central diamond. This won’t take away from the overall beauty of the ring as it will focus all the attention on the central diamond itself. These solitaire rings are beautiful, timeless and classic .

Another variation on that theme is to look for engagement rings that use a collection of smaller diamonds rather than one very large diamond. Since smaller diamonds are more common and less costly, you can actually have a higher total carat amount for the same or less money. These pave style rings are very attractive when matched with a simple wedding band.

Using semi-precious or other precious stones within groupings on engagement rings may add to the unique quality of the ring while keeping costs within your budget. Often rubies, emeralds and sapphires are combined in engagement ring settings to add color and depth to the ring without adding a lot of extra cost .

The shape or cut of the diamond can also add visual dimensions that make a ring look larger. Engagement rings featuring the elongated shapes such as oval, pear, marquis or emerald cut are going to draw the eye down the length of the diamond, adding size and dimension .

It is important, whatever type of diamond you are buying, that you purchase the best color, clarity and cut possible, rather than just focusing in on the size of the diamond itself. The dazzle and sparkle of engagement rings is based on those factors, not the size of the diamond. Even a large diamond that is cloudy or flawed is not going to be as nice as a high quality smaller diamond, especially with diamonds in solitaire style round or Asscher cut engagement rings.

Talking with your jeweler and being realistic about what you can afford to look for in engagement rings is important. Maximizing both the diamond quality and cut as well as getting the best possible setting to showcase the diamond doesn’t have to be expensive .

For those that are really interested in maximizing their buying power, mixing settings and loose diamonds is a great option in designing engagement rings. Again, working with someone experienced in engagement rings will help you in getting just the ring you want while staying in your budget.
