Getting Back to Our Jewelry Roots

7th January - Submitted by Fine Jewelry

Nowadays, it seems as though everything around us is “green”, eco-friendly and natural. Cars, materials, detergent, food and everything in between has a natural version available to consumers in an attempt to protect our planet. This eco-friendly view is prominent even in jewelry trends for the upcoming 2010 season. Whether its natural, earthy colors or influences directly from nature, anything and everything “green” is hot this season.

One popular trend is chocolate diamonds and pearls. Diamonds of this brown color have been deemed low quality in the past but they are hitting the market with a vengeance now. Chocolate diamonds typically have a rich brown color to them and when paired with white diamonds and yellow gold, the effect can be a dazzling, warm, unique piece of jewelry. They can be a distinct addition to any outfit and are eye catching without appearing over the top. These diamonds can be found in everything from necklaces to earrings to rings and are a must have in 2010.

Chocolate pearls are on a similar trend run as the diamonds. Chocolate pearls are typically Tahitian pearls that have been color enhanced to give them a rich brown or bronze color. Because Tahitian pearls are used for chocolate pearls, they tend to be larger in size. Chocolate pearls really make for beautiful, warm pieces of jewelry. They are so different from the traditional white pearls but are still sophisticated. These pearls are also so versatile, being used in large choker necklaces, rings and drop earrings. Chocolate pearls also make beautiful pendants when paired with white or yellow stones and yellow gold. The result can be a stunningly beautiful piece of jewelry.

Nature is also being incorporated into jewelry in the physical design of pieces. Shapes like leaves, feathers and snakes are extremely popular for 2010. You can find these shapes in charms dangling from necklaces, on rings and even as embellishments on shoes. These designs are often used in conjunction with warm colored stones like yellow, green, purple and brown. Another popular trend you may come across in the stores this year is clothing with the accessories already attached like layered chains or cuff bracelet.

If you want to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe this year, just remember to choose warm. Soft colors and subtle metallics are the best option. Go for a large cuff bracelet wound with leaves or a snake. Find a large cocktail ring with a beautiful green emeralds and purple amethyst stones. Embrace your sophistication and pick up a gold necklace with a chocolate diamond or pearl pendant. Anything you choose will not only be fashionable, but you can feel good about getting in touch with the inner earth goddess at the same time!
