How to Put a Clean Body Jewelry

18th May - Submitted by Fine Jewelry

I recently got my nose pierced, and was surprised about how the jewelry worked. I have my ears pierced at age ten, and have not really had to worry too much about them since then.

The piercings have healed and my earrings go in and out without worry. I have no infections, and things are as if they were supposed to be that way naturally. I found that I had to learn to clean and take care of a new piercing all over again. I learned a few things about body jewelry safety, even though the nose ring is not really considered to be of the body.

When you are cleaning a piercing for body jewelry, never use a rubbing alcohol nor hydrogen peroxide. It’s because the body might think that the jewelry in place is something foreign that it will try to get rid of it as it heals. Try asking the person who  did your piercing on what you should do best  to avoid this kind of thing to happen. Although there are body jewelry that can’t be pushed out, you still need to know if you’re using the correct ones.

You also have to worry about moving your body jewelry around at the wrong times. Though you may have been told to turn your lobe earrings a few times a day to be sure the skin does not attach to the earring, that is not always true with all piercings.

If you turn a nose ring while the skin is dry, you can damage the skin. If you ever take it out, it will look funny. To stop that from happening, some body jewelry items should only be moved, turned, or replaced when they are wet. If you are not really sure about this, you can ask the one who did the piercing  first. If they are really good in it, they can help you on your concerns on how to care for your  piercings.

Also you need to consider the practicality of the location of your body piercing. If you want to have a belly piercing, then it is advisable not to use pants for the mean time to avoid the piercing to get rub all the time.

Having the private area pierced can be fun for others, but also you have to remember that by doing this, you might be more at risk of getting STDs. So before you have body piercing, think it over and over again. It’s because safety and well being is still  more important than the body jewelry that you wear.
