My oldest daughter who is 25 years old will be getting married to her 5-year boyfriend in a few months. They were planning to have a simple wedding wherein all of the family members, relatives and friends gather together in a special event.
As a parent to a loving daughter who would soon leave our house, I wanted to give her a very special gift that she would treasure throughout her life. A sentimental gift that would always remind her about the people she had lived with. Something that would represent the whole family she had lived with even if she starts a new life outside the house.
My family and I decided to talk about what symbolic gift we should give for her. With so many options to choose from, we finally agreed to give her a bracelet. One of my children thought it would be best gift to give her she will wear everyday so she could always remember us. I have agreed with that idea.

As I begin to ponder on these things and about my daughter’s future life, I started to cry that night. Years have passed so early for her, I thought. But I believe she would inherit all the things we taught and showed her as she was growing up with us. And if she does those things to her new family, I would be very proud of her. I’m very confident she will be a good wife and a loving mother to her kids someday. Also, when she would have a daughter to get married someday perhaps after 20 years, I hope she will do the same like what we did to her.
