Variations In Loose Diamond Price

4th March - Submitted by Fine Jewelry

When an individual is in need of a diamond piece of jewelry, often he will only think of going to a local jewelry store to purchase it.  However, there is a more unique and often more economical way of purchasing a diamond, which is buying a loose cut diamond online from a reputable dealer.  Loose diamond prices are almost always less expensive than buying them in a local store because the dealer has much less overhead cost to deal with.  In addition to the loose diamond price, there is also a much greater variety of diamonds that are available since the individual has the whole world at his fingertips to buy from rather than being confined to the local of his own town or city where options are limited.

Loose diamond pricing varies based on the four C’s of diamonds.  The first C is the carat weight of the diamond, with the larger diamonds costing more in loose diamond pricing.Individuals must cautiously consider the person that they are buying for, because larger the diamond, the more bulky it is in the setting that can get in the way of a person who lives a more active lifestyle.  In some cases, it might be better to go smaller with the central stone and then use smaller stones that are set around it in the ring so that the central stone is accented and the total carats of diamonds are comparable to the single large stone that was being considered.  In this way there is not an overly large central stone that can get caught on fabrics or scratch the individual during the course of every day life.

In addition to size, another C is the color of the stone which affects loose diamond pricing.  Most individuals want stones that are not colored at all, but individuals that are seeking to replicate an antique style of engagement ringmight like to have a colored diamond in the ring, since unique stones were used in antique rings because they were thought to give it more of a special and un-replicable look.  In this same line, the clarity of the stone is also considered, with perfectly clear stones being the ideal on today’s market. Again, in the past, little flaws in the stones were considered unique and the cut of the diamond was often made to accent the flaw to make it a piece of art.  Finally, there are about ten different cuts of diamonds that affect loose diamond pricing, so the individual will want to look at each to determine which cut will fit the look that he is trying to achieve.
