There are many different styles of wedding rings on the market today from traditional styles through to very unique customized rings. Wedding rings are an important piece of jewelry; however, they aren’t the final ring in the set in many cases. Eternity rings are a popular gift that is added to the wedding set years after the happy day.
Eternity rings differ from anniversary rings in that they are typically given at any special event or date after the wedding rings. Anniversary rings, on the other hand, are typically reserved for anniversaries, often the fifth or tenth, however any anniversary can be appropriate.
It isn’t necessary to find eternity or anniversary rings that completely match with the wedding rings. In reality most aren’t sold as sets, however some bridal ring sets to have an optional anniversary or eternity ring that can be included or purchased later.
When wedding rings are ornate or very detailed, the eternity or anniversary rings can be rather elegant and simplistic in style. They are generally of the same color or type of metal as the wedding bands and rings, making a dramatic and beautiful presentation.
As with most types of rings, either wedding rings or other types, there are several different styles of eternity or anniversary rings. One of the most popular is called a half eternity ring which features a channel style setting of medium sized diamonds that are flush to the surface of the ring.
Half eternity rings match very well with wedding rings, plus because of the location of the gems across the front part of the ring they are practical to wear and very durable. Since the rings are designed to only have the diamonds or stones on the front half of the band, they can be relatively easily sized down or up as needed.
For some women the eternity ring will replace one of the wedding rings, typically the wedding band. This often happens if the wedding band is rather traditional and simple and the couple would like to add a bit more dazzle to the wedding set.
Eternity rings replacing the wedding band is a wonderful way to update your wedding rings without completely replacing the set. Since they do coordinate well with wedding rings of a variety of styles this is a great option and a wonderful anytime gift.
